Index books started in 1989 from a few market stalls selling a wide range of fiction books, hardbacks and children's books.

In 1990 we moved into agricultural shows, home shows and various air shows, we also covered the Ideal Home show based in London, and the Modern Homes show in Glasgow.

After trading for a further six years we found the most popular books were children's books, both educational and fiction.

We then progressed to shopping centres all over the country and various shops located in:

• Barnsley,
• Middlesbrough,
• Rotherham,
• Liverpool,
• Newcastle,
• Manchester,
• and also in Scunthorpe.

In 2010 we decided to take our business worldwide to give people the best range of quality children's books at the most competitive prices online for both educational, fact and fictional children's books.
